TotalCross – More Devices, New Updates
As we know, TotalCross is a Brazilian startup that has created a development framework where, using java, you can distribute your application to various operating systems (iOS, Android, Linux, Linux Arm, windows, data collectors and etc). All this easily, using any IDE of your choice.
Mobile experience now also for embedded systems
We note that there is a big difficulty for the dev of embedded systems: to create beautiful interfaces easily and quickly. You keep developing with Java, using all UI components and can generate your application for Raspberry pi and Toradex
Watch in the video below the dashboard developed with TotalCross that we present at Web Summit (to access github, click here)
We are starting 2020 with several changes, and one of them is our new focus on developers.
We realize that the great pillar of our tool is the developers and that is why we are completely changing our vision and everything we produce. So this year we will be increasingly focusing on producing content and testing the best formats. And that’s why we’ve started with new updates.
Plug in VS Code
Always thinking of facilitating, we created a plugin in VS Code that creates and packages your project, deploys and also has the option deploy & run, which emulates your application and deploys.
When we launched the beta SDK for embedded we split it into two SDKs, separating it from mobile (Android, iOS and etc) and this ended up disrupting the authentication system, as well as making it difficult for anyone who would like to generate their app for all available operating systems.
That’s why we’re launching the unique SDK, where you just have to add to your pom.xml the operating systems you deployed to and done!

We are also releasing the trial version of KnowCode, a tool developed using neural netting for you to turn your Android projects xml into java with TotalCross automatically, without losing quality. See the example below:
Don’t be surprised if you find many changes from TotalCross over the internet. As we have said, we are building a tool for developers and so it is our plans to completely change our documentation, examples on GitHub and create channels for communication such as forums.
For the next 6 months we will implement:
- External libraries (including native);
- Custom Cam for Android;
- Information sharing between apps;
